Traffic Control

To renew your traffic controller accreditation in New South Wales, you will be required to successfully complete the Roads and Maritime Services approved training program and demonstrate the skills and knowledge.

Course Requirements

Participants must provide 100 points of identification andmust be a minimum of 18 years of age
Safety boots, appropriate clothing for conditions (e.g wetweather gear/sunscreen/hat)
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment to becompleted prior to confirmation of your enrolment

Drivers Licence (minimum Green P or Equivalent)
OHS Induction Card CPCCWHS1001 or equivalent
RIICOM201D - Communicate in the workplace
RIIWHS201D - Work safely and follow WHS
policies and procedures
RIIWHS205D - Control traffic with a slow bat


• Stop/direct road users using a stop/slow bat and
understand stopping sight distances
• Maintain traffic incident reports
• Understand the Traffic Control Guidance Scheme
(TCGS) also known as Traffic Control Plan (TCP) for the
• Assess and respond to changes in the environment
• Carry out risk assessments for personnel safety
• Participate in toolbox talks
• Use communication methods
• Conform to traffic control policies and procedures
