High Risk Licensing

This 2 day course course is specifically designed for Materials Hoist operators, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to apply for their High Risk Work Licence

This program is delivered and assessed by Southern Training Organisation RTO 91378.

This course is specifically designed for Materials Hoist operators. The category HM course does not allow operating personnel hoists. At the end of this course, participants will be able to plan their work and check the equipment as well as being able to apply a working knowledge of the WHS and regulatory requirements in accordance with regulatory standards.
This course is for students who reside in the ACT, or can satisfy the ACT regulator that circumstances exist that justify a residential wavier for issuing a HRWL

Course Requirements

 Participants must provide 100 points of identification and be a minimum of 18 years of age
 Participants must wear steel capped safety footwear during training and assessment
 English language skills sufficient to understand both written and verbal instruction
 Basic numeracy skills
 Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment

 Application of Australian Standards and National Standards
 Personal and general safety
 Workplace practices
 Site information and job planning
 Risk management
 Pre-operational checks
 Hoist operations
 Monitoring the load, hoist movement & weather conditions
 Transporting dangerous and hazardous materials
 Signals and communication
 Shutdown and post-operational checks


Licence Application

Successful participants are required to lodge an application for a High-Risk Work Licence with Access Canberra within 60 days from the issue date of the Statement of Attainment.
