Start your construction career with an MBA Apprenticeship
Applications are now open with employment commencing in January 2019
It is a positive time to be part of the ACT building and construction industry.
In the past year alone the construction industry created more than 100,000 new skilled jobs, accounting for more than 1 in every 4 new jobs created. This makes the construction industry Australia’s third largest employer and the largest employer of full-time skilled workers.
Australia’s construction industry is predicted to keep on growing. To meet the forecast demand, an additional 300,000 employees, apprentices and independent contractors are needed over the next decade, and 50,000 new entrants each year over the next ten years.
Applications are now open to join Canberra’s leading building and construction industry association, Master Builders ACT as an MBA Apprentice.  Employment is offered in Carpentry, Plumbing and Civil Construction.
An MBA apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to experience all aspects of the building trade from commercial to residential and sub-contractor work, via the MBA’s wide network of host employers.
MBA Apprentices are trained through MBA Group Training.
The benefits are:
Quality carpentry training through purpose-built training facilities
Qualified trainers who are up to date with the latest industry methods and practices
Ongoing WHS training and support throughout your apprenticeship
No cost to you for training fees, uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Wellbeing support from OzHelp
Access to high quality training and apprentices is merely one of the many benefits of being a member of the MBA. As well as access to legal, technical and workplace safety advice, a core benefit of membership is access to information about changing legislation that affects our industry.
So what does it take to be a successful MBA Apprentice?
And how much can you earn? We have done some interesting research around wage comparisons and because you earn as you learn, apprentices are often financially ahead of their uni counterparts after their study concludes.
Here’s some more interesting stats about MBA apprenticeships:
Many Master Builders apprentices go on to study the Certificate IV in Building Construction (Building) which offers site supervisory and foreman roles with reputable organisations. Others have strong aspirations of business ownership and possibly gaining their C Class Builders licence following successful completion of the program. James Hubbard, MBA Apprentice of the Year, said ‚Äė‚ÄĚthe Certificate IV in Building Construction (Building) has opened my eyes on the opportunities within the industry. Whether you want to gain your own builders licence, manage a worksite, or continue onto further study, this has been a great choice for me.‚ÄĚ
University! Did someone say, ‚Äėwhy don‚Äôt you go to University?‚Äô
Why not consider this pathway following completion of your Diploma of Building Construction (Building) and gain credit points and a reduction in time toward your Degree in Building Construction Management? Transition to working as a project manager or engineer….the options are endless. Remember, all of this starts with an apprenticeship, so don’t ever underestimate this pathway to earn while you learn, complete your training without a large HECS debt and create a lifestyle of choice for yourself.
