CEO Update 8 March 2019
This week we heard positive news from ACT Treasury that the changes to land tax that have surprised many builders and developers will be reviewed. Recent changes to land tax on unoccupied dwellings have meant that some developers have received a quarterly land tax bill. We are working closely with ACT Treasury to address this unintended consequence of the recent changes.
This week the MBA has met again with our coalition of built environment partners to discuss common policy issues. The group includes the ACT branches of the MBA, Consult Australia, Property Council, Canberra Business Chamber, Housing Industry Association, Engineers Australia, Planning Institute of Australia, Institute of Architects and the Australian Institute of Building. The group is focusing on long term planning for the ACT, the ACT's competitive edge and planning for our future workforce. We will continue to update members on the progress of this collaboration.
