Master Builders graduates ACT Govt Women in Trades program participants

The Master Builders Work Insight Program supporting the 2018 ACT Government ACT Women in Trades Grants Program graduated 7 participants in a ceremony to be attended by Minister Fitzharris today.

The Women in Trades Work Insights Program comprised of a four-week pre-apprenticeship program which provided exposure to the industry through training, work site experience, networking with industry employers and employees, life coaching and well-being mentoring sessions.

Master Builders ACT President Grace Ferreira said, “Because of the support provided by the ACT Government some of the women in the program will be offered an apprenticeship with Master Builders commencing in 2019. This program has demonstrated to local women that the construction industry provides safe, secure and rewarding work.”

MBA is committed to working with government to increase the uptake of women in trades. The MBA already trains 50% of the ACT’s carpentry apprentices and this program will deliver a pathway of employment for females who wish to undertake an apprenticeship in Carpentry, Plumbing or Civil Construction.
