LEGAL AND COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR
Master Builders ACT, formed in 1925, is the largest and most respected industry association representing the building and construction industry in the Canberra region.
Master Builders ACT operates Canberra’s leading Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and Group Training Organisation (MBA Group Training), the MBA Fidelity Fund, and the MBA Skills Centre Building Fund.
As a result of a newly formed team, MBA ACT is seeking an experienced Legal and Compliance Director to lead a team of industry experts in the areas of industrial relations law, work health and safety, dispute resolution, building contracts and technical advice. The role also encompasses the duties of an in-house legal Counsel including responsibility for organisational compliance and risk management.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer with a broad range of skills, seeking a leadership role in the building and construction industry.
As a member of the MBA ACT’s leadership team, and reporting directly to the CEO, you will have an opportunity to shape industry policy, support the elite of Canberra’s construction industry, and deliver excellence in member service and advice.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful applicant will have a minimum of seven years’ experience in construction law, compliance or risk management roles, or workplace law; hold strong leadership skills; and possess the confidence, presence and drive to lead an advocacy agenda with a diverse stakeholder group.
